FAQ

  • Why is there no Mac or Linux client?

The API and core technology itself is completely compatible with Mono, the GUI library used for the initial client (WinForms) is not. Once a new GUI is written, both OSX and Linux clients will be available. Mono claims WinForms compatibility, so WinForms was used, however the support for it is not actually in a usable state.

Due to the open nature of the API and protocol, you're completely welcome to write your own client if you can't wait. ;)

  • How/Why was Gablarski started?

Originally, Eric just wanted a way to play sound clips into SLAGG's TeamSpeak 2 server, without futzing with changing outputs and back. He started to.. interact with the TS2 server to create a sort of 'sound bot'. Eventually he got the crazy idea to simply write his own version that would support such things natively. He'd been looking for a new project he could open source and really sink his teeth into. In December of 2008, he got to work on Gablarski.

  • What is a 'Gablarski'?

Gablarski is a non-existent word that Eric made up and would randomly interject as a non-response or to interrupt silence. It seemed apt as a name for an insane attempt at writing a new gaming VoIP client.

  • What's with the monkeys and barrels?

There are monkeys in the barrel. They sometimes have laser bananas, what are you going to do about it?
